Hi Shane, what a gorgeous winter day for a stroll! Also love the yellow flower against the rich blue sky... and the Mt Owen pano is delightful when opened.

Found myself trying to look over obstacles in some of the shots... perhaps you could give some thought to building a turret to get some elevation above the roof, trees etc obstructing my viewing pleasure? :)

LOL Natalie. I've been going out in the rain in the hopes of growing a few more inches...doesn't seem to be working tho :( I will endeavour to chop out the other bits from now on. Thanks Natalie :-) Glad you like the shots.

WEEK 32

Didn't get too far this week. I had one last essay to write and finally got it done today. It was wet and chilly again, typical west coast weather. Hope you enjoy the shots and have a great week,

Oo Oo Oo ... love the part opened bud and drops in the first shot, and the sunset shot is beautiful!

But my money is on the 4th photo... what a stunner!!! Something about it just sends the imagination into over-drive. Could be a photo from space or the birth of a planet... my mind's eye can also imagine a dragon flying across that view, or a pterodactyl!

Thanks Shane, really enjoyed these!

Cool shots Shane, nice to have the books away for a while and a chance to play with the camera a bit more.

very nice Shane, well done, I too like the camellia, is it the susquantia?? .........the HDR looks pretty nifty, might start doodling around with that in the near future, I love my photostacker. ........would have loved to try the HDR out on the McKenzie waterfall but the weathergods were against me! never mind!

Nice shots, Shane - particularly like the perspective of the view of 'The main road coming into to town from Hobart'.

Forgive my ignorance... but what are they mining from 'them there hills'? :)

Thanks Mystic, wasn't sure if that one was gonna work or not. :)

Dave...stop swearing at me ROFL ...is susquantia a type of camellia? I'm not a flower person mate, I just take pictures of them LOL. HDR looks pretty good when it's not over cooked, gives the image a bit of colour depth. I know what you mean about the imaging stacking...lots of fun hey? I still play with it a lot. Thanks for your comment mate appreciated.

Thanks Natalie. Yeah there is something about that shot I really like, not exactly sure what It is though. Not 100% sure of exactly what they pull out of there, but I do know they mine copper...will have a look around and see what I can find out.

What a week. It started out really yucky...but it was awesome to see the snow...the cold wasn't so cool tho :(

I did, however manage to get out and about quite a bit this week.. I still have many shots to process, but here are a few I thought you all might like. Hope you have a great week and enjoy :)

Thanks Dave. I'll have to look at one of the bird sites I have bookmarked and see what sort of bird it is...having fun playing in lightroom at the moment, so a bit busy :D Mt Owen is awesome to photograph, so moody. there can sometimes be the most oppressive feeling coming from it and then five minutes later it's like heaven has arrived...whoa :D
Glad you like the shots mate

Agree that the daffodil shot is amazing. What is the reflective surface? How did you get that black background?

The bird is from the family: Thrushes (Turdidae) - the Common Blackbird (Turdus merula).

Thanks Shane! :)

Thanks Natalie, appreciate the bird info :) Glad you like the shots. The daffodil was taken on top of a smoked glass coffee table top, the window was a the stem end of the shot and I had a torch shining from the right of the flower....more light coming in from the torch than there was coming from the window.. I also put a vignette on in post processing...but not a very dark one. Hope that helps.
